Southpaw Music & Entertainment
In 2002 I walked into Southpaw with a mix CD featuring some vintage scuba divers on the covers and the words "Painting and Kissing." I managed to get them to let me do an indie music night there which few people showed up to. Over the years, Mikey Palms and Matt Roff have become like family to me and it's been an honor designing posters, making websites, and working on 500+ mix cds for the famed jukebox. Mikey DJ'd my wedding and attended my son's bris - the former being a much more enjoyable event. Bottom line - I love these guys and what they do. They were the first on our end of Brooklyn to setup a new music venue that gave back to the neighborhood - gave high school kids a place to rock out on stage, gave moms and dads with kids a place to bring their little ones for dance parties and hosted some of the best and hip-hop shows around. As the music monopoly grows in park slope and the gownus, it's nice to know they've stuck to their guns and still keep churning out month after month of great programming. ANYWAY...we just launched a new site for the guys that features a custom calendar that Caroline put together, a new blog called The Disptach which Doug DeFalco is slaying daily and overall, a more editorial look offering more content up. Go get 'em guys.

We never used to have a place to add images for shows, but now we do. The guys also have a ton of room to write and write and write about the shows.

A Southpaw weblog. Doug Defalco is a fantastic writer. Now, he has a platform to let loose. Bands from around the Borough, the City, the Nation and the World will be thankful he does.
